He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Elizander Hopson and Okie Young Hopson; his wife Mary Rosalyn Hopson; his children, Dallas Malone Hopson and Andrea Charlene Hopson; his sister Goldie Hughes; and his half-siblings, Roy Hopson, Taylor Hopson, Harriet Hughes, Deliah Ayers and Hannah Wilson.
He is survived by: his daughter Beverly K Roberts of Elizabethton, TN; his grandchildren, Teddy Hughes (Heather) of Newland, NC and Roseanna Vance (Kris) of Pyatte, NC; his great grandchildren, Stephanie Muñoz, Faith Hughes, Kadance Vance, Carly Vance and Kendall Vance; and his great great grandchild Meredith Muñoz.
