He was predeceased by: his parents, Jackson Albert Carpenter and Wanda Woods Carpenter. He is survived by: his wife Amy Clark Carpenter of Newland, NC; his daughters, Heather Ragan (Toby) of Pineola, NC and Hilary Carpenter (Jason Shaw) of Cary, NC; his grandchildren, Trevor Benfield, Roma Benfield, Erin Benfield, Harper Shaw and Rowan Shaw; and his sisters, Janice Vance and Joyce Gortney (David). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
