He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Johnson and Almedia Brown Johnson; his son Steven Howard "Scooter" Johnson (Johnnie Wingfield); his siblings, Dicie Ledford, Virgie Odom, Danny, Jay, Paul and Tommy Johnson; his parents-in-law, Paul and Ruby Norman; and his siblings-in-law, Joyce Barrier, Dorothy Carpenter, Robin Norman, Joe Ledford, Sammy Vance and Amos Carpenter.
He is survived by: his wife Linda "Penny" Johnson of Elk Park; his children, Greg Johnson (Carol) of Elizabethton, TN and Stephanie Barnett (Chris) of Roan Mountain, TN; his grandchildren, Nicholas Johnson, Haley Johnson and Mercedes Barnett; his brother Charles Johnson (Iris) of Roan Mountain; and his siblings-in-law, Pauline Vance of Morganton, Brenda Blackwell (Bobby) of Roan Mountain, Ray Norman of Elk Park and Tommy Norman (Marie) of Elk Park. He is also survived by Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22nd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Belview Missionary Baptist Church (4390 US-19E, Newland, NC 28657). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 22nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
