He was predeceased by: his parents, Hoke Benfield and Lockie McKinney Benfield; and his sisters, Lee Phillips and Naomi Woody. He is survived by: his daughters, Heather English of Spruce Pine and Tiffany English (Jesse) of Spruce Pine; his grandsons, Zeke, Jeremy, Gavin, Mason and Riley; and his siblings, Sonny Benfield (Lois) of Minneapolis, Pauline Shell (Dean) of Roan Mountain, TN, Emma Trivett (Richard) of Crossnore, Estella Burleson of Three Mile, Ann Webb (Barney) of Cranberry and Ellen Garland (Burl) of Bakersville. He is also survived by Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
