He was predeceased by: his parents, John Wesley Holtsclaw and Hattie Tester Holtsclaw; his children, Glenda Baird and Jamie Holtsclaw; and his siblings, Freda Johnson, Wanda Campbell, Beatrice Lillian Thomas, Hildred Stover, Frances Holtsclaw, Earlene Turbyfill, Willa Mae and John Holtsclaw, Jr..
He is survived by: his children, Susan Pollygus (Mark) of Morganton, NC and Rick Holtsclaw of Piney Flats, TN; his sister-in-law Peggy Holtsclaw; his sister Mary Sue Legendre (Carol Butler) of Zephyrhills, FL; his grandchildren, Rachel, Ben, Matthew, Chelsea, Jamey and Annabeth; and his great grandchildren, Ava, Cana, Hannah, Spencer, Graedon, Colton and Mason.
