She was predeceased by: her parents, Fredrick Sparks and Dixie Buchanan Sparks; and her siblings, Sheryl Vance, Sheila J Sparks and David Sparks.

She is survived by: her husband James "JB" Grindstaff; and her children, Jamey Hamby (Roger) of Elk Park, NC, James Grindstaff of Newland, NC, Matthew, Bea Ried (Girlfriend) and Chris Grindstaff (Jada) of Hampton, TN. She is also survived by eight grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Amorem Hospice and Palliative Care 902 Kirkwood St NW Lenoir, NC 28645.
