He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Freeman and Thelma Buchanan Freeman; and his brother Michael Freeman. He is survived by: his wife Gloria McKinney Freeman; his children, Kim Phillips (Jeff) of Plumtree and Todd Freeman of Fuquay-Varina; his sister Glenna McKinney of Charlotte; and his grandchildren, Jacob and Chandler Freeman. He is also survived by Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to Powdermill Baptist Church at 268 Powder Mill Creek Road, Newland, NC 28657.
