He was predeceased by: his father James Ruffus Tarlton. He is survived by: his son James Tarlton (Julianna Shue) of New London; his stepchildren, Elizabeth Russell of New London and Darren Russell (Alexis Hardister) of Albemarle; his granddaughter Leah Marie Tarlton; and his siblings, Vernon Tarlton of Stanfield and Ann Godwin of Oakboro.
