He was predeceased by: his father Claude Winstead; and his brother Charles Brooks Finch. He is survived by: his wife Linda Perkins Winstead; his daughter Tammy Blackwell (John); his grandchildren, Brittany Blackwell Canfield (Kyle) and Trey Blackwell (Kacie); and his brother Nicky Winstead (Faye). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to Buckhorn United Methodist Church, 2438 NC-42, Moncure, NC 27559.
