He was predeceased by: his parents, James Vance Williams, Sr. and Katie Shepperd Garner; his son James Vance Williams, III; his sisters, Hannah McLean and Barbara Hathcock; and his stepbrother Jerry Garner.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Spivey Williams; his daughters, Dana George (Dave) of Lake View and Jessica Holder of Texas; his sisters, Pat Freeman of Wadesboro and Sandra Fincher of Texas; his stepsister Carolyn Hilliard of Seven-Lakes; his grandchildren, Blalock, David George, Zachary George, Jamie George and Josephine George; his stepchildren, Anthony Phillips of Sanford and Amy Phillips Atkinson (Chris) of Fort Drum; and his stepgrandchildren, Joshua York, Brittany Sykes and Lacy Atkinson.
