He was predeceased by: his parents, Warren Johnson and Mary Mercereau Johnson; his wife Beverly Jean Johnson; his son Kirk William Johnson; and his sister Elizabeth Cronce.

He is survived by: his daughters, Kristen Henry (David) and Karen Calsi (Robert); his grandchildren, Wesley Gan Kirk Johnson, Damien Calsi, Amelia Calsi, Alexandra Henry and Samuel Henry; his daughter-in-law Jo Yok Gan; his sister-in-law Phyllis Thorpe; his nephew Eric Cronce; and his niece Diane Quinn.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Literacy Council of Washington County Maryland, 15 Randolph Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740 or Hospice of Craven County, 2818 Neuse Blvd., New Bern, NC 28562.
