He was predeceased by: his parents, Maxine Withrow and Charles Withrow. He is survived by: his significant other Andrea Lee Withrow of New Bern; his son Devin Lee of New Bern; and his brothers, Owen, Bruce Withrow of Raleigh and Leland. He is also survived by 5 nieces and 6 nephews.

“Please accept our deepest sympathy for Ward's passing. I lived with Ward for two years during our time at WCU and was his teammate. Being friends with him is something I will always remember fondly. We had many laughs and good times in those days. While we lost touch over the years, Ward has always been a big part of my memories at WCU and will always be remembered with love and fondness. “Hi, thank you for the beautiful memories about Ward. He talked about you from time to time. Every year we went to the mountains and he would tell some crazy story about you and him.
