He was predeceased by: his parents, Tommy Mercer and Gertrude Mercer. He is survived by: his wife Hope Mercer; his children, Crystal Elaine Mercer (Kenneth), Deborah Gaye Carpenter (Marty), Timothy Allen Mercer (Jill) and Walter Thomas Mercer (Melissa); his sister Pat Mallard; and his grandchildren, Bryant Wallace, Joshua Wallace, Rodney Ormond, Noelle Carpenter, Kenny Mercer, Emily Gunn, Samantha Melvin, Alanna Morris and Lauren Ciampi. He is also survived by nineteen great grandchildren.
