He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Judy Harrison; his stepsons, Michael Hughes and Clinton Hughes; and his parents, Vernon Johnson and Winifred Johnson. He was also cherished by five grandchildren, numerous beloved cousins.

Rowland Sander Johnson, 86, of New Bern, NC, died July 1, 2020, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and dementia.
