He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Newcombe (McKenny) and Lawrence J. Newcombe; his wife Barbara (Drahos); and his siblings, James, Lawrence, Marion Smith and Francis MacAloon.

He is survived by: his children, Amy Holder, Nancy Falcone of New Bern, Robert Newcombe (Alison) of New Bern, Patrick Newcombe of Kentucky and Keri Steinfeldt (Joshua) of Onalaska, Wisconsin; his sisters, Patricia Kenney of Tinton Falls and Regina Kapica of Manahawkin; and his pet Barney. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, many wonderful nieces and nephews.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the DAV, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250 or http://www.dav.org.
