Nelson Lee Metts Sr. Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nelson Lee Metts Sr. (New Bern, North Carolina), born in Comfort, North Carolina, who passed away on April 27, 2023, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his daughter Kendall Michelle Metts; his parents, Joseph Martin and Hattie Mae Jarman Metts; and his siblings, Ivey, Joseph "Joe", Gene, Sidney, Hilda, Margaret, Faye and Gladys.

He is survived by: his wife Melba Hatley Metts; his children, Nelson "Nicky" Lee Metts Jr. (Kendra), David Eugene Dyson Jr. (Jodi) and Danah Jean Dyson (James); his grandchildren, Kandace Farr, Kendall Trey Metts, Kayla Rae Tomchesson (Branson), Zackery Nathan Dunn, Carson Alexa Dyson and David Eugene Dyson III; his great grandchildren, Mackenzie Dameron, Kaydance Nivens, Brody Abshire and Barrett Metts; his brothers, Carlton Metts (Anne), Ray Metts and Bruce Metts (Thelma); and his siblings-in-law, Chester Heath (Faye), Patricia Metts (Ivey) and Lucy Metts (Sidney). He is also survived by nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, Nick's family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
