He was predeceased by: his sons, Gerald and Patrick Rettew (Yolanda); his brother John E. Rettew; and his parents, Matthew A. Rettew and Eleanor C. Zielie.

He is survived by: his wife Eleanor; and his daughters, Joanna Britt (Jim), Karin Deering (Randy), Linda O'Neal (Chris) and Cheryl Montgomery.
