She was loved and cherished by many people including : her parents, Jesse Jernigan and Fannie Sandy Jernigan; her daughters, Barbara (Bill Handy), Kathryn (Frank Schreier) and Diane (Eli Blanchard); her grandchildren, Jason Blanchard (Molly) of Raleigh, Jill Blanchard Vinson (Shawn) of Clayton, Mary Schreier of Cary, Nick Handy (Sarah) of Charlotte, Eric Schreier (Beth Anne) of Garner and Brent Handy of Tacoma, Washington.; and her great grandchildren, Morgan, Connor Blanchard of Raleigh, Josh, Kate, Jack Vinson of Clayton and Owen Schreier of Garner. She was also cherished by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
