She was loved and cherished by many people including: her children, Alton Ray Avery, Jr. of New Bern, Camilla Wilkins of Raleigh and Teionia Jarmon; her mother Sarah P. Sawyer of Vandemere; and her siblings, Clinton Sawyer of Georgia, Virginia Simmons of Vanceboro, Brenda Sawyer of Reelsboro, Barbara Sawyer of Maribel and Bernell Gaskins of Bayboro. She was also cherished by twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild.
