We are sad to announce that on August 22, 2020, at the age of 85, Malcolm Reid Chitty (New Bern, North Carolina), born in Murfreesboro, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Ola Aubrey and Eva Boyette Chitty; his grandsons, Aubrey and Railey Pitts; and his siblings, Ola A. Duncan, Bettie Chappell, Redmond and Charles Chitty.

He is survived by: his wife Naomi Jane Railey Chitty; his children, Catherine Jane Chitty Pike (Joseph) of New Bern, Caroline Susan Chitty Pitts (Douglas) of Glen Alpine and Malcolm Reid Chitty, Jr. (Lisa) of New Bern; his grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Chitty, Malcolm Reid Chitty, III, Jane Street Simmons and Aaron Aubrey Pitts; and his sisters, Frances Hinnant of Durham and Parthenia Gurganious of Bel Air, MD. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Due to Covid restrictions, those in attendance will be asked to wear face masks and use social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1463, NB, NC 28563.
