She was predeceased by: her parents, George James Smith, Sr. and Mary Alice Smith; her stepmother Lucy Smith; and her siblings, Mable Hill, Mary Helen Holland, Elsie Rouse, Willie Smith, Dee Smith, Ed Smith and Ray Smith.
She is survived by: her husband David R. Cauley; her siblings, Thelma Smith Barrow of Kinston, Johnny Sheperd Smith of Kinston and George James Smith, Jr. of Kinston; her siblings-in-law, Sue Ange of Kinston, Carol Simmons of Charlotte and Mercer Cauley of Charlotte; and her nephew George Smith III. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
