It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Love Estelle Mercer Whitfield of New Bern, North Carolina, born in Lowland, North Carolina, who passed away on September 6, 2022, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jewell Mercer and Joella Mercer; her husband Cecil Whitfield; and her daughter Kathy. She is survived by: her children, Sherry Whitfield Myers (Mike) of New Bern, John M. Whitfield of New Bern, Stephen P. Whitfield of Goldsboro and Susan Whitfield of New Bern; her siblings, Bert Mercer of Cape Carteret, Blanchie Smith and Sylvia Ross of Lowland, NC.; her grandchildren, Jonathan Myers of Savannah, GA, Mark Whitfield of Raleigh, NC, Josh Whitfield (McKenzie) of New Bern, Elizabeth Whitfield of Wilmington, NC and Stephen Whitfield of Raleigh, NC; and her great grandchild Carson Kelly of Wilmington, NC.. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
