With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Johnise Hardesty Koonce of New Bern, North Carolina, born in Morehead City, North Carolina, who passed away on December 5, 2020 at the age of 82. She was predeceased by: her parents, Archie Hardesty and Sadie Hardesty; her former husband B. C. Gray Jr.; her husband G. T. Koonce Jr.; and her friend Jimmy Hollomon.
She is survived by: her children, Carla Lou Gray of New Bern, Lee Ann Allen of Louisburg, NC, Dawn Davis (Chip) of Louisburg, NC, Timmy Koonce (Sherry) of Trenton and Danny Koonce (Penny) of Kinston; her sister Geneva Boswell of Greensboro; her niece Lisa Winslow (Mike) of Greensboro; her nephew Neal Boswell (Angela) of New York City; and her grandchildren, Kyle Koonce, Chrissy Koonce, Margo Minkler, Corey Koonce, Casey Koonce, Caleb Allen, Kassie Allen, Erin Joyner and Charlie Davis. She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren; and special friend.
In keeping with the CDC guidelines pertaining to the Coronavirus, those who are ill or at-risk (elderly, immune-compromised) are encouraged to stay home.
