He was predeceased by: his parents, Abner McLean and Lela McLean; his siblings, Robert, Margaret and Donavan McLean; his son-in-law Carl Eddie Scott, Jr.; and his grandson John Taylor Scott.

He is survived by: his wife Peggy; his daughters, Anita Scott, Cathy McLean (Tim) and Dolores McLean; his grandchildren, Trent Scott (Pam), Sarah Howard (Franky), Stella McLean (Daniel) and Daniel Smith; his great grandchildren, Connor Howard, Anna Howard, Claire Scott and Nevaeh Howard; and his niece Patricia McLean (Dennis).
