With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John Garbarino of New Bern, North Carolina, born in Livonia, Michigan, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 30, 2024 at the age of 66. He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin John Garbarino and Catherine McAleer Garbarino; and his brother Gary. He is survived by: his wife Martha Ward Garbarino; his son Sean; his daughter-in-law Kristen; his grandson Carter; and his siblings, Kathy, Mary (Richard), Kim (Mark), Tim (Trisha) and Joey. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, John requested donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

“Martha: I am just shocked to learn that John passed away. Another neighbor visited tonight and told me. I used to work in my yard a lot and John would pass, walking the dog, and we would have a brief conversation. I just had no idea because I would certainly have attended the service at Cotten. Please accept my sympathy and I pray that you will find comfort in the days ahead as you adjust to life without John. Shelby Pontiff”
