She was predeceased by: her father Philip Everett Brown. She is survived by: her sister Beth Brown Nicely; her daughters, Brooke Amerson Hand and Nichole Alexis Amerson; her mother Mary Phillips Brown; her sisters, Allison Byrd and Judy Nicely; her granddaughters, Taylor Hand, Madison Hand and River Devinney; and also Jimmy Hand.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Hope Lodge in Greenville, NC where Janet stayed while receiving her treatments.
