He is survived by: his wife Ollie Simmons Midgette; his children, Reverend of New Bern, R. E. Midgette, Sr. (Ava) of New Bern, Michael Hill (Sylvia) of New Bern, Karen Moore of New Bern, Jessica Simpson (Willie) of New Bern and Brenda Hill of New Bern; and his siblings, Ronald Miller (Thelma) of Chester, VA, Gregory Boone of Newark, NJ, Bernard Boone of Summerset, NJ, Arlena Jones of Kinston, NC and Marva Smith. He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Family request no flowers, but memorials may be made to: West Street Christian Church Building Fund 301 Forest Oaks Drive, New Bern, NC 28562.
