It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Jackson Howard Smithwick of New Bern, North Carolina, born in Arapahoe, North Carolina, who passed away on April 13, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Eva Smithwick and Howard Smithwick; his son Kyle Smithwick; and his siblings, Alice Judkins, Faye Smithwick, Henry Smithwick and Joe Smithwick.
He is survived by: his wife Sylvia E. Smithwick; his daughters, Jennifer Smithwick Hunt (Dennis Hunt) of Indianapolis, IN and Tracy Smithwick Savage (Stephen Savage); and his grandson Caleb Savage. He is also survived by three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
