He is survived by: his sons, John Grady Whitehurst (Donna) of Vanceboro and Ervin Wayne Whitehurst (Joy) of New Bern; his daughter-in-law Carla Whitehurst of New Bern; his grandchildren, Brian Whitehurst, Janet Whitehurst, Danny Gilbert (Heather), Christopher Whitehurst, Anitra Rayburn, Erik Whitehurst (Audra), Jason Whitehurst (Maegan), Faith Whitehurst and Melissa Beaman (Tyler); his great grandchildren, Ethan, Naitlin, Mikayla, Alexa, Mia, Natalie, Benjamin, Aaron, Andrea and Aaliyah; and his sister Grace Throughman (Tom) of Atlanta.
