He is survived by: his wife Patsy Romans; his children, Valerie Lynn Smith of Columbia, MD, Anne Christine Wessel of New Bern and Joseph Michael Romans (Kelley) of Bristow, VA; his sister Toni Sue Harper (Gary) of Hammond, IN; his grandchildren, Mike, Chris, Tim (Kiri), Jake (Heather), Katie (Cooper) and Alex; and his great grandchildren, Carly, Sophia, Carson, Reagan, Ava, Lincoln, Olive and Jaxon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
