He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Wilson and Margaret Sedlmayer Lawson; and his siblings, Wayne Grant Lawson and Eleanor. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Bledsoe Lawson; his children, Floyd James "Jamie" Lawson of California and Denise Helfrich (David) of Raleigh; his brother Larry Lawson (Taffy) of Wilmington; and his granddaughters, Sonya Helfrich Baker (Zachary) and Angela Helfrich.
