He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles W. Schildnecht and Beatrice Ellen Schildnecht; his brother Charles W. Schildnecht, Jr.; his sister-in-law Bernice Schildnecht; his sister Mildred Schildnecht; and his son-in-law Carleton W. Todd, II.

He is survived by: his wife June Zikias Schildnecht; his children, Edward J. Schildnecht (Lorraine) of Darien, CT, Lisa A. Todd of New Bern, NC and Kathy J. Beckel (Steven) of New Bern, NC; his grandchildren, Meghan Beckel Bailey (Matthew), Christina M. Beckel, Sydney N. Schildnecht and Edward J. Schildnecht, III; and his great grandchildren, Penelope, Genevieve Bailey and Adrian Nicolas. He is also survived by relatives, as a loving father and grandfather.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
