He was predeceased by: his parents, Elsie Cowell Lane Purifoy and David Lee Purifoy Sr. As; his wife Meritha Dowdle Purifoy; his daughters, Susan Purifoy McNeely and Jamie Lee Purifoy; and his stepsons, David Dowdle and Joe Dowdle.
He is survived by: his children, Mary Bryant (Richard), John Purifoy (Mary) and Kristin Purifoy (Kris); his son-in-law Jonathan Van Apeldoorn; his stepson Tony Dowdle (Virgie); his siblings, Ellen Bousman, Emily Purifoy Polanik (Joe), James Purifoy and Lisa Purifoy Hines (Jim); his grandchildren, Amber, Chip, Donnie, Jordan, Caroline, Kenzie, Avery, Shannon, Kim, Kristina, Alesia and Tonya; and his great grandchildren, Gabriel, Lilly, Bethany, Kinsley, Cameron, Clark, Kyndall, Olivia, Garrett, Alistrah, Brooke and Rayna.
