He was predeceased by: his father John James Slater of Wilmington, NY.; and his grandparents, Carson Slater of Wilmington, NY., Sybil Slater, Lynn S. Ferguson and Dorothy E. Ferguson of Keeseville, NY..

He is survived by: his mother Mary E. Ferguson of New Bern, NC.; his siblings, Jason A. Ferguson of Sacramento, CA. and Kathy A. Vogel of Whitesboro, NY.; his uncle Rod Slater of Santa Rosa, CA.; his children, Kaylee Cahoon and Noah Slater of Belhaven, NC.; his fiancé Ramarie Acker of Ernul, NC.; his former spouse Carson; and his grandchildren, Corey and Teresa Slater (LaShomb) of Wilmington, NY.. He is also survived by numerous other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to the American Cancer Society as Corey was taken rather suddenly after diagnosis by metastatic colon cancer.

“Corey Jon Slater was my hero, my best friend, my lover, and my fiancé. It’s been not quite 1 year and 5 months since his passing, but my heart and should relive it each and every day as if it were that frozen cold morning December 19, 2020 at approximately 6:10 a.m.. I thought we’d have a lifetime together to make memories and grow in our love for each other. That dream was shattered, but I thank God Corey chose to spend his life and remaining days with me. Rest In Peace, my love”
