He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Charles Lee Atkinson, Sr. and Ruth Hardison Atkinson; his wife Jane Crofton Atkinson; his children, Charles Lee Atkinson, III (Chuck) and Jane Atkinson Peele; his grandchildren, Carlee Peele and William Lee Atkinson; his siblings, Ruth Waters and Bill Atkinson; and his nieces, RuthAnn Pinkman (John), Beth Foley (Mike), Cristi Moore (Joe) and CeCe Smithwick (Rudy).

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to 3HC hospice care: 2402 Wayne Memorial Dr. Goldsboro, NC 27534.

“Mrs Atkinson, I just found out about Mr Atkinson’s passing last month. I am so sorry. I really enjoyed working with him at Reynolds. I thought he did an excellent job and was sorry to see him leave. Of course, I first remember him through my Dad when they worked together on base at ONI. If it is any consolation, know that he is now in heaven with God and his angels. Please take take of yourself and thank you for being a teacher at HHS. You were one of the best. Ron Benton”
