She was predeceased by: her husband Walter Hoytt Paramore, Jr.; her parents, Walter Cooke and Katherine Harris Cooke; and her son-in-law David Spencer Carman. She is survived by: her children, Walter Hoytt Paramore, III (Wendy) of Sneads Ferry, Katherine Carman Ortmann (Simon) of Denmark and Bettye Jo Johnson (Michael) of Cary; her grandchildren, Matthew Hoytt Paramore (Charlotte), John Stephen Carman (Kristen), Caroline Mary Carman (Taylor), Megan Ashley Johnson, Meredith Leigh Johnson, Rachel Marie Paramore and Grant Sanders Paramore; her great grandchildren, Charlotte Chapman Paramore, Sophia Baldwin Paramore, Delaney Brooke Carman and Miles David Fearrington; and her close friends, Reverends Paul Canady and Cortney Dale.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Bettye's name to Crystal Coast Hospice Center in Newport, Christ Episcopal Church or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
