He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Edith Boettger Merker; his daughters, Susanne Sahlman (Bill) of Cornlius, NC and Michelle Greer of Davidson, NC; his sister Eva Rheinhold; his grandchildren, Nathan Sahlman (Ji), Samantha Ciccarelli (Nick), Jason Sahlman, Carter Greer and Noah Greer; and his great grandchildren, Olivia and Natalie.
