He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Archely Whaley and Ruth Maples Whaley; and his siblings, Jimmy Whaley, Eugene Whaley, Sam Whaley and Lola Whitt.

He is survived by: his daughters, Ashley Freeman (Justin) of Nakina, NC and Kristi Enderle of New York; and his siblings, Donnie Whaley of Nakina, NC, Ben Whaley of Nakina, NC, Glen Whaley of Chadbourn, NC, Lorena Lein of Sevierville, TN and Patricia Ridgeway of Bladenboro, NC. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
