It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Patricia Ann (Hamby) Smith (Murphy, North Carolina), who passed away on July 22, 2024, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Rev. William "Bill" Hoyt and Helen Ruth Smith; her husband Dee Edward Hamby, Sr.; her grandchildren, DJ Payne and Susan Leticia Postelle (Tisha); her brother James Harold Smith; and her grandparents, William Rans Smith, Annie Ruth Owen Smith, Thomas and Mattie Hawkins Arp.
She is survived by: her children, Tara Payne (Doyle), Brenda Tankersley (Daryl), Christine Dickey (Roy), Brad Lewis, Dee Hamby (Duke) and Mike Hamby; her brother Danny Jo Smith (Jayne) of Cleveland, TN; her grandchildren, Tyler Taylor (Laurie), Evan Payne (Tori), Adam Lewis, Clayton Tankersley (Megan), Noelle Long (John), Lauren Hamby, Lindsay Hamby, Samantha Skelton (Jim) and Amber Mathieu (Cory); her great grandchildren, Danner Payne, Waylon Harper, Henry Gentle, Myles Mathieu, Anderson Tankersley, Johnathan Dee Long, Merritt Taylor, Roxanne Hamby, Sailor Tuggle, Skylar Mathieu, Maeve Guzman, Charlee Skelton, Lainey Tankersley and Avery Mathieu; her extended family, Sherry Graves and Cassandra; and also Asher.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of Merritt Taylor and to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in memory of Susan Leticia Postelle.
