He is survived by: his wife Joan "Ann" Spencer Smith; his children, Katherine Ann Conrad (Tom), Carlton Leroy Smith, Jr. (Debbie) and David Craig Smith (Phyllis); his grandchildren, Wesley Carlton Smith, Kevin Smith, Julie Smith, Joani Mason, James Pleasant, Jeffrey Pleasant, Tara Brinkley and Nicki Rodriguez; and his brother Joe Pete Hurdle. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
