He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Ruth Busbin Harwood; and his siblings, Craven Harwood, Daniel Harwood, Jr., Dorothy H. Sapp and Geraldine H. Moss.

He is survived by: his children, Timothy Harwood, Joseph Harwood (Belinda) and Lynda H. Dowd (Wallace); his grandchildren, Jesse Harwood, Alex Harwood and Brittany Morgan; and his great grandchildren, Rachel and Parker.
