It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Lula Mae Smalley (Mount Olive, North Carolina), who passed away on January 24, 2022, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Babe Kornegay and Eloise Kornegay; her husband Paul Smalley (Marines); her sisters, Annie Manuel and Mary Ann Johnson; and her grandsons, Jabez Ayman Moore and David Earl Kornegay.
She is survived by: her children, Kenneth Kornegay Sr. (Jeri Lynn) of Waterford, CT, Pernell Smalley Brickey (Ron) of Mableton, GA and Patrick Paul Smalley (Amber) of East Hartford; and her grandchildren, Felicia Cooley, Kenneth Kornegay Jr., Stephanie Kornegay, Kathy Brisker, Durel Smith, Quinton Smalley and Scarlette Smalley. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and God-children.
She also served on the executive committee for Explore Your World Youth Foundation which helped children expand their knowledge of the world and to go places to see and learn new things.
