He was predeceased by: his parents, Elwood Underhill and Sally Christine Williamson Underhill. He is survived by: his son James Lewis Underhill, Jr.; his daughter-in-law Alicia Underhill; his granddaughters, Emma Underhill of Spring Lake and Ava Underhill of Grantham; his brother David; his sister-in-law Nancy Underhill; his sister Iris Underhill Pate; and his nieces and nephews, Lynn Pate, Denise Pate, Janet Pate Godbold, Don Pate, Dave Underhill, Leigh Ann Underhill, Rob Faulk and Sue Faulk Spicer.
