He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hester and Susan Boone Hester; his sister Charlene Davis Passot; and his grandfathers, Johnny Boone and Larry Cox.

He is survived by: his wife Shannon Marie Rogers Hester; his children, Susan Nicole Hester, Mason Dale Hester, Austin Ryan Hester and Andrew Larry Hester; his stepchildren, Zachary Lee and Alyssa Lee; his grandson Liam Garbati; his grandmother Christine Diane Cox; his uncle Benjamin Boone; and his cousin Sabrina Lynn Jarvis.
