He is survived by: his mother-in-law Julia Mae Thomas; his wife Dilsey Thomas Nichols; his children, Stephanie Harris (Robert), Veronica Boyd (Troy), Cassandra L Nichols and Willie O Nichols III; his grandchildren, Demetrius Edwards (Kiona), Jay Boyd, Jocelyn Harris, MaKayla Boyd and Madison Mills; and his aunts and uncles, James, Robert (Ossie), Ester Nichols (Betty), Lucille Byrd, Sarah, Rosa and Liz Nichols. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
