He was predeceased by: his parent Robert Cecil; his wife Marian Frances Gentry Cook; his children, Barbara Cook York and Tony Michael Cook; his grandson Jason Ryan York; and his brothers, Ben, Sonny Boy and Morris Cook.
He is survived by: his parent Ada Gibson Cook; his daughters, Faye Cook Zarins (Juris) of Denver and Cathy Cook Dyer (Randy Dyer); his daughter-in-law Christy Black Cook; his grandchildren, Travis Zarins (Jennifer), Todd Zarins (Carla), Jennifer York, Rick Bingham, Amy Finnacannon (Joe), Anna Shields (Jeremy) and Nicholas "Nick" Dyer; and his sisters, Pauline Schaub, Jeanette Smith, Wanda Bass and Pam Sessoms.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to Salem United Methodist Church or Novant Health Hospice, P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte, N.C. 28233.
