He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph B. Abernathy and Evelyn Cagle Abernathy; his brother Dennis Abernathy; and his daughter Angel Clubb. He is survived by: his wife Cindy Abernathy; his mother-in-law Eunice Phillips; his son Brian; his daughter-in-law Tammy Clubb; his grandchildren, Ashleigh Price (Aaron), Stephen Clubb and Megan Clubb; his great grandchildren, Lilah Clubb and Madeline Clubb; and his siblings, Debbie Branch (Sherman), Scott Abernathy and Steve Abernathy (Melissa).

The family requires those in attendance to wear a mask throughout visitation and service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church.
