She was predeceased by: her parents, Lemuel Byrd and Sallie Greene Byrd; her husband John Robert Carter Sr.; and her daughter Anita Ann Ramirez. She is survived by: her children, John R. Carter Jr. of Mt. Gilead and Brenda Thomas (Timothy) of Troy; and her grandsons, Christopher Hoover (Dana), Brian Hoover (Amanda), Terry Carter and Joel Ramirez. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
