He was predeceased by: his brother Jim Carpenter. He is survived by: his wife Kay Carpenter of Mount Gilead; his children, Brandy (Kurt Bombien) of Matthews, Denetra Burnette, Mark Taylor and Tera Velez; and his brothers, Henry T Carpenter and Paul E Carpenter. He is also survived by seven children and six grandchildren.
