He was predeceased by: his father Godfrey Bruton; his wife Ella Bruton; his siblings, Reginald, Leon and Doris York; and his grandson Chase Bruton.

He is survived by: his children, Douglas Bruton (La Deborah) of Charlotte, NC and Janette Jackson (Samuel) of Apex, NC; and his granddaughter Adacia Bruton (Johnny Greene) of Raleigh, NC.
